Our Beliefs

We believe the only true God is the triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three distinct persons in one divine being (the Holy Trinity).  We believe that the Bible is God’s own Word and truth, without error. It is a collection of books that are God-inspired which have been passed down for us to read, learn, and teach from. “The Gospel” is the good news of life found through Jesus.  We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully human and fully God. He has conquered sin, death and Satan through his life on earth, death on the cross, and resurrection from the grave. Through His sacrifice, we are given eternal life.  We believe there is only one Church in Christ. We believe faith in Christ connects all Christians together. We are called to extend the Church through our worship of God in Jesus' name, through Christian education, and through service of the surrounding community.  To that end, believers support their local congregation through active involvement, frequent prayer, and diligent financial support.  We believe Baptism is a sacred act (sacrament) through which God receives and forgives us through the power of water connected with His Word.  Anyone, including babies, can be brought to the waters of Baptism since it is God's action reaching down to claim us as His children.  We believe Holy Communion (the Lord's Supper) is a sacred act (sacrament) where participants receive Christ’s own body and blood, pledged to us by His promise and brought to our lips along with the bread and wine.  These sacred acts of Baptism and the Lord's Supper bring us forgiveness of sins and a new life connected to the risen Lord Jesus.   We believe, teach and confess the three main confessions of the Christian faith, acknowledged throughout the universal Church: the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. We believe these creedal statements because they are drawn from the Bible.  As part of the Lutheran Church, we also subscribe to the Lutheran Confessions as contained in the Book of Concord, convinced that their teachings are also drawn from Scripture.
